Frequently asked questions

Answers to what community owners ask most about running a Telegram group or Discord server with CommunityPulse.

Getting started

What is the best bot for my Telegram group or Discord server?

It depends on the job. Moderation bots like Rose or Carl-bot block spam and enforce rules. CommunityPulse does the other half: it shows you what is really happening in your community and helps you keep members active. It tracks activity, mood and your team, answers repeated questions, runs leaderboards and quests, and translates announcements. Most communities run it alongside their moderation bot.

How do I add CommunityPulse to my group or server?

On Telegram, add @CommunityPulseApp_bot to your group and make it an admin. On Discord, add the bot to your server and keep its admin permission. Your free 7-day trial starts automatically, and the person who added the bot gets the dashboard. On Telegram, open a private chat with the bot to reach your dashboard. On Discord, sign in at discord.blockbyblock.network.

Why does the bot need admin rights?

On Telegram, a bot that isn't an admin can miss messages, so your numbers would be wrong. As an admin it sees every message in the group. By default it only asks for the right to manage the chat. If you turn on Daily Quests, also let it delete messages, so it can replace its previous quest post. It doesn't need to ban people or change your group settings. On Discord it needs admin rights to read your channels, create its own channels and give out the roles you set up.

Is there a setup guide?

Yes. On Telegram, the bot sends you a short setup guide in a private chat, and you can open it again any time with /guide. On Discord, the bot posts a setup message in a private channel only your team can see.

Does it work for small groups?

Yes. It works for any group or server size from the day you add it. You don't need 500 members.

Can it see messages from before I added it?

No. Telegram and Discord don't give bots a group's older messages, so your stats start on the day you add the bot.

Statistics and activity

How do I see statistics for my Telegram group?

Telegram only shows group statistics once a group has more than 500 members, and even then it only shows totals. CommunityPulse works for any group size. You get messages, daily, weekly and monthly active members, joins and leaves, trends over time, your busiest hours and your most active members, all in a dashboard inside Telegram.

Why can't I see Server Insights on Discord?

Discord's Server Insights is only for Community servers with more than 500 members, and it shows totals without naming anyone. CommunityPulse works for any server size. It shows who your most active members are, how activity changes day to day, who joins and leaves, and when your server is busiest.

How do I see the most active members in my group or server?

CommunityPulse ranks your members by real activity and posts daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards in your community. One-word greetings and spam don't count, so the top of the board means something.

When is my community most active? When should I post?

The activity heatmap shows your busiest days and hours over the last 30 days. Post your announcements when the most people are around to see them.

Can a bot see the full list of members in my Telegram group?

No bot can. Telegram doesn't let bots download a group's member list. CommunityPulse records everyone who joins, leaves or posts after it's added, and shows your real total member count.

Keeping members active

How do I revive a dead group or server?

First find out where people drop off. CommunityPulse shows whether new members ever post, whether your active members come back each week, and how the mood is changing. Then you have things to act on: a daily and weekly summary with suggestions, plus leaderboards, quests and rewards that give members a reason to come back.

Why do new members join but never say anything?

Many people join, look around and stay quiet. The Newcomers view shows who joined, who posted in their first week, and who was still active two and four weeks later, by name. You can see whether your welcome is working and recognise the members who stick around.

How do I know if members keep coming back?

CommunityPulse tracks two things. For new members, it shows how many posted in their first week, and how many were still active two and four weeks after joining. For everyone, it shows how many of last week's active members came back this week, or yesterday's came back today. Both are charted over time, so you can see whether things are getting better or worse.

Can it welcome new members?

Yes. The bot greets new members when they join.

Questions and AI

Is there a bot that answers the same questions automatically?

Yes. Add your common questions and answers, or import them from your website or a PDF. When a member asks one of them, CommunityPulse replies with your own answer, so it never makes anything up. It waits a few minutes first, so your team can answer if they're around. It also learns from your team's replies, and keeps a list of questions nobody has answered yet.

Can I add an AI bot to my group?

CommunityPulse uses AI behind the scenes rather than as a chatbot. It writes a daily and weekly summary of what happened in your community, with suggestions. It judges the mood of members' messages and matches their questions to your answers. It doesn't chat with members or invent replies. On Telegram the summary is sent to you as a private message. On Discord it's posted to a private channel you choose. Both are also in your dashboard.

How do I know if my community is happy?

Every day CommunityPulse sorts members' messages into positive, neutral and negative. It shows the overall mood for yesterday and for the past week, with a short explanation.

Rewards and engagement

Is there a leveling or points bot that can't be spammed?

Yes. On Telegram, members earn points for real messages, quests and missions. On Discord, they earn points by completing quests and missions. Spam, rapid-fire messages and one-word filler don't count. Members climb the leaderboards and unlock achievements along the way, and on Discord they can spend their points in a role shop.

Are there achievements or badges for members?

Yes. Members unlock achievements as they take part, and can check their progress privately at any time. On Telegram, /achievements shows the full list. On Discord, you can choose a channel where new achievements are announced, or keep them quiet.

How do I reward the top members?

The leaderboards are posted in your community, so the winners get public recognition. Your team also gets reward ideas for each winner, such as early access, merch or a shoutout, suggested to suit the size of the win.

Can I run quests in my group or server?

Yes. Members get small daily quests that make them talk to each other, like replying to another member, asking a question, chatting with two different people or mentioning someone. Each quest done earns points. Members check their quests privately: with a button on Telegram, or with /quests on Discord. On Telegram you choose how often the bot posts the quests. On Discord you choose which channels count and can set a minimum role.

What can members do with the bot themselves?

On Telegram, members tap buttons under the bot's posts to see their quests, their achievement progress and their mission points, privately. On Discord, members use /quests, /missions, /leaderboard and /shop. Your team can also start giveaways with /giveaway and manage the role shop with /shop-add and /shop-remove.

Can I choose when the bot posts?

Yes. You can pick the hour your leaderboards are posted. On Telegram you also choose how often Daily Quests are posted, set reminders for your Verified Missions and a schedule for the missions leaderboard, and switch the welcome message on or off. On Discord you choose the channels for leaderboards, AI summaries and missions.

Can I reward members for using our product, not just chatting?

Yes, with Verified Missions. Reward members for real actions in your own product, like signing up on your website, downloading your app or making a deposit. Your developer adds a simple connection once, then you create missions from the dashboard, and points are given automatically when a member completes the action.

Is there a Discord giveaway bot where entrants need a role?

Yes. On Discord you can run giveaways and limit entry to members with a role you choose.

Can members buy roles with points on Discord?

Yes. The role shop lets members spend the points they earn on roles you choose.

Translation

Is there a bot that translates messages in a group?

CommunityPulse translates your announcements into up to 10 languages. On Telegram, pin a message and members get buttons to read it in their language. On Discord, announcements in the channels you choose can be read in other languages. It translates announcements, not every chat message.

Your team

Can I track my moderators' activity?

Yes. The Team view shows each team member's messages, how many members they replied to, how often they post and when they're online. Set each person's working hours and their activity is measured during their shift, with anything they do outside it shown separately. On Telegram you can also measure how quickly your team replies to members. You choose who counts as your team.

Can I see who on my team does the most work?

Yes. Team members are ranked by their activity for the day, week or month. CommunityPulse warns you when one person is handling most of the replies, and points out busy hours when nobody from your team was around. A chart shows week by week whether your team is keeping up with the community.

Your dashboard

Can I manage several groups or servers from one dashboard?

Yes. Add the bot to each community and switch between them in your dashboard.

Can my teammates use the dashboard too?

Yes. The person who adds the bot gets access first. To add more teammates, contact us and we'll set them up.

Can I export my data?

Yes. You can download two lists as spreadsheet files. The first is your new members who posted in their first week, or who were still active two or four weeks after joining, with when they joined and how many messages they sent. The second is your Verified Missions leaderboard, with each member's points and the missions they completed.

Safety

Is it safe? Can the bot read all my group's messages?

It reads messages in the groups and servers it's added to. That's how it counts activity, judges mood and spots questions. It can't read private chats or other groups. Your community's data is never used for advertising. See our privacy policy for the details.

Does CommunityPulse stop spam or check new members with a captcha?

No, it isn't a moderation bot. Keep your anti-spam or captcha bot and run CommunityPulse alongside it.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

Every community starts with a free 7-day trial when you add the bot. After that, plans start at $300 a month. See our pricing for what each plan includes.
